Chanukah donuts don't need to cost you $12 each, nor do they have to be hard to make. Here's an easy hack we found from Sarah Lasry on Instagram, that makes donut making the simplest task! But be warned, THEY ARE DELICIOUS!
Purchase a bag of frozen dough. We love the frozen dinner rolls by Rhodes, and that's what Sarah Lasry recommends. You can pick up a bag of 72 pieces for about 7 bucks at your local Walmart or Stop & Shop. Click here to check the store stop in your local Walmart.
You want those donuts to get puffy! Spread out the dough balls on an oil sprayed baking sheet, and allow them to rise for 4 hours at room temperature. We like to let the m rise in a (turned off) oven.
Yes, I know what you're thinking - OIL!!! - yep, we're frying in oil. But you deserve those calories, and the donuts are going to be delish!! So get frying! Pre-heat your oil to 350 degrees, and try to maintain that temperature throughout the frying process with a thermometer.
Now it's time to decorate your donuts! Grab your confectioners sugar and sprinkle your donuts using a dredge shaker and fill it with your favorite cream! Custard and caramel are classics, but feel free to get creative! We used Nutella spread, and it was delicious!
If you make the donuts, share your pics on Instagram and tag us @dealperx! We'd love to see how you decorate them!
